Mathematics · Percentages
In an election between candidates A, B, and C, a faulty voting machine was used. 15% of the total votes were invalid. Of these invalid votes, 50% were wrongly counted in favour of C, 30% in favour of B, and 20% in favour of A. As a result of this fault, candidate C won the election by 150 votes over his nearest rival. Had there been no fault, candidate A would have won the election by 1% of the total votes, while candidates B and C would have secured an equal number of votes. What was the total number of invalid votes?
- 1150
- 2750✓
