Assertion (A): The 'Khalji Revolution' of 1290 AD represented a democratization of the Sultanate's ruling elite, breaking the racial monopoly of the Ilbari Turks. Reason (R): Jalal-ud-din Khalji's policy of Ahimsa and his refusal to shed the blood of 'true Muslims' was a strategic response to the demographic reality that the Delhi Sultanate was no longer an exclusively 'colonial' Turkish state.
