संवैधानिक संशोधन: 86वें संविधान संशोधन अधिनियम, 2002 के द्वारा भारतीय संविधान में शिक्षा के अधिकार को एक मौलिक अधिकार (Fundamental Right) का दर्जा दिया गया।
नया अनुच्छेद: इसके तहत संविधान के भाग-III में अनुच्छेद 21क (Article 21A) को जोड़ा गया।
मुख्य प्रावधान: इस अनुच्छेद के अनुसार, राज्य 6 से 14 वर्ष की आयु के सभी बच्चों को मुफ्त और अनिवार्य शिक्षा उपलब्ध कराएगा, जैसा कि संसद कानून बनाकर निर्धारित करे।
