शासक: शक युग (शक संवत) की शुरुआत कुषाण वंश के महान शासक कनिष्क द्वारा की गई थी।
आरंभ वर्ष: इस संवत की शुरुआत आमतौर पर 78 ईस्वी (AD) में कनिष्क के राज्यारोहण के वर्ष से मानी जाती है।
महत्व: भारत सरकार द्वारा राष्ट्रीय कैलेंडर के रूप में शक संवत का ही उपयोग किया जाता है।
