भारतीय संविधान के अनुच्छेद 330 और अनुच्छेद 332 के तहत लोकसभा और राज्य विधानसभाओं में अनुसूचित जातियों (SC) और अनुसूचित जनजातियों (ST) के लिए जनसंख्या के अनुपात में सीटों के आरक्षण का प्रावधान किया गया है।
वर्तमान में लोकसभा की कुल 543 निर्वाचित सीटों में से अनुसूचित जातियों (SC) के लिए 84 सीटें और अनुसूचित जनजातियों (ST) के लिए 47 सीटें आरक्षित हैं।
यह आरक्षण व्यवस्था परिसीमन आयोग द्वारा जनसंख्या के आंकड़ों के आधार पर तय की जाती है। अतः विकल्प
