स्पष्टीकरण:
भारतीय संविधान के अनुच्छेद 64 के अनुसार, देश के उपराष्ट्रपति राज्यसभा के पदेन सभापति (Ex-officio Chairman) के रूप में कार्य करते हैं।
इस व्यवस्था का तात्पर्य यह है कि जो भी व्यक्ति भारत का उपराष्ट्रपति बनेगा, वह स्वतः ही उच्च सदन यानी राज्यसभा के सभापति का पद भी संभाल लेगा।
इसके अतिरिक्त, अनुच्छेद 63 देश में एक उपराष्ट्रपति के पद का प्रावधान करता है।
