भारत के महापंजीयक (Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India) द्वारा राष्ट्रीय जनसंख्या रजिस्टर (NPR) पहली बार 2010 में तैयार किया गया था।
मुख्य बिंदु:
कानूनी आधार: एनपीआर (NPR) को नागरिकता अधिनियम, 1955 और नागरिकता (नागरिकों का पंजीकरण और राष्ट्रीय पहचान पत्र जारी करना) नियम, 2003 के प्रावधानों के तहत तैयार किया जाता है।
उद्देश्य: देश के सामान्य निवासियों का एक व्यापक पहचान डेटाबेस तैयार करना है, जिसमें जनसांख्यिकीय और बायोमेट्रिक विवरण दोनों शामिल होते हैं।
पहला चरण: वर्ष 2010 में जनगणना 2011 के पहले चरण के साथ ही राष्ट्रीय जनसंख्या रजिस्टर के लिए भी डेटा एकत्र किया गया था। इसके बाद इसे समय-समय पर अपडेट भी किया जाता रहा है।
