भारत की पंचायती राज संरचना में, जिला परिषद का गठन जिला स्तर पर किया जाता है।

शीर्ष निकाय: जिला परिषद त्रिस्तरीय पंचायती राज व्यवस्था का सबसे सर्वोच्च (शीर्ष) स्तर का निकाय है।
क्षेत्राधिकार: यह पूरे जिले के स्तर पर कार्य करती है और इसके अंतर्गत जिले की सभी पंचायत समितियां और ग्राम पंचायतें आती हैं।
मुख्य कार्य: इसका प्रमुख कार्य जिले के ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों के लिए विकास योजनाओं को तैयार करना, उनका क्रियान्वयन करना और निचली इकाइयों (पंचायत समितियों और ग्राम पंचायतों) के कार्यों का समन्वय व पर्यवेक्षण करना है।
