अप्राकृतिक साधन (जैसे घनत्व, दबाव और तापमान) और ज्वालामुखी क्रियाएं केवल अप्रत्यक्ष और सीमित गहराई तक ही जानकारी देती हैं, जबकि भूकंप विज्ञान संपूर्ण आंतरिक संरचना का सटीक वैज्ञानिक आधार प्रदान करता है।
