स्पष्टीकरण:
किसी अनियमित आकार के आवेशित चालक पर आवेश का पृष्ठ घनत्व उसकी वक्रता (curvature) पर निर्भर करता है।
चालक का जो भाग जितना अधिक नुकीला होता है, वहाँ वक्रता त्रिज्या उतनी ही कम और आवेश का पृष्ठ घनत्व उतना ही अधिक होता है।
नुकीले सिरों पर आवेश का संकेन्द्रण अधिक होने के कारण वहाँ विद्युत क्षेत्र बहुत प्रबल हो जाता है।
