परिणाम: पेशवा बाजीराव द्वितीय को आत्मसमर्पण करना पड़ा, उनका पद समाप्त कर उन्हें बिठूर (कानपुर) भेज दिया गया। इसके बाद अंग्रेजों का नर्मदा नदी के दक्षिण के लगभग पूरे भारत पर प्रत्यक्ष या अप्रत्यक्ष नियंत्रण स्थापित हो गया।
