यह दिन रबी की फसल (विशेषकर गेंहू) की कटाई का समय भी होता है, इसलिए इसे कृषि उत्सव के रूप में भी हर्षोल्लास के साथ मनाया जाता है।
इस दिन लोग गुरुद्वारों में जाकर मत् टेकते हैं, अरदास करते हैं और पारंपरिक भांगड़ा व गिद्दा नृत्य करते हैं।
