बक्सर का युद्ध (1764): 22 अक्टूबर 1764 को लड़े गए इस युद्ध में एक तरफ ब्रिटिश ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी थी, और दूसरी तरफ बंगाल के नवाब मीर क़ासिम, अवध के नवाब शुजाुद्दौला तथा मुगल सम्राट शाह आलम द्वितीय की संयुक्त सेना थी।
निर्णायक परिणाम: प्लासी का युद्ध (1757) ने बंगाल में अंग्रेजों की नींव रखी थी, परंतु बक्सर के युद्ध की निर्णायक विजय ने अंग्रेजों को बंगाल, बिहार और उड़ीसा की वास्तविक राजनीतिक शक्ति बना दिया और भारत में ब्रिटिश साम्राज्य के वास्तविक विस्तार की शुरुआत हुई।
