रिट (Writs) जारी करने की शक्ति: इस अनुच्छेद के तहत नागरिकों को अपने मूल अधिकारों के हनन होने की स्थिति में सीधे सर्वोच्च न्यायालय जाने का अधिकार है। सर्वोच्च न्यायालय नागरिकों के अधिकारों की रक्षा के लिए पाँच प्रकार की रिट (बंदी प्रत्यक्षीकरण, परमादेश, अधिकार पृच्छा, उत्प्रेषण और प्रतिषेध) जारी कर सकता है।
संवैधानिक उपचार: यह स्वयं में एक मौलिक अधिकार है जो अन्य सभी मौलिक अधिकारों की गारंटी देता है।
