General Studies · Coding-Decoding
The vowels A, E, I, O, U are coded as @, #, %, $, & respectively. For other letters, the code is the sum of the digits representing their numerical position in the English alphabetical series (e.g., P = 16 -> 1 + 6 = 7). Situation 1: If the number of even digits in the code is greater than the number of odd digits, each odd number in the code will be translated into its corresponding alphabetical letter whose position is the same as that number. Situation 2: If all numbers in the code are odd digits, the codes at the first and last positions will be switched, and each number will be translated into its corresponding alphabetical letter whose position is the same as that number. Situation 3: If the code contains more than two symbols, consonants in the original word should be changed to their immediately following letter in the alphabet. If more than one condition applies, only Condition 3 is implemented. What would be the code for 'PENCIL'?
