Physics · Electromagnetism - Magnetic Fields in Matter
The magnetic induction in vacuum at a plane surface of a uniform isotropic magnetic material is equal to B. The vector B⃗ forms an angle α with the normal to the surface. If the relative permeability of the magnetic material is μ, the magnitude of the magnetic induction B' inside the material in the immediate vicinity of its surface is given by:
- 1B' = B√(μ2 + (1 - μ2) cos2α)
- 2B' = B√(cos2α / μ2 + sin2α)
- 3B' = B√(1 + (μ2 + 1) sin2α)
- 4B' = B√(sμ2 cos2α + sin2α)✓
Correct answer
B' = B√(sμ2 cos2α + sin2α)
