The Hall coefficient RH of a sample can be determined from the measured Hall voltage VH = 1d RH B I + R I, where d is the thickness of the sample, B is the applied magnetic field, I is the current passing through the sample, and R is an unwanted offset resistance. A lock-in detection technique is used by keeping I constant with the applied magnetic field being modulated a s B = B0 sin(Ωt), where B0 is the amplitude of the magnetic field and Ω is the frequency of the reference signal. The measured amplitude of VH at frequency Ω using lock-in detection is:
- 1I (RH B0d + R)
- 2I√2 (RH B0d + R)
- 3B0√2 (RH Id)✓
- 4B0 (RH Id)
Correct answer
B0√2 (RH Id)
