Pythagoras discovered the earth's movement, and Anaxagoras discovered the true cause of eclipses. Meton, another astronomer, made significant improvements to the calendar, and Hippocrates made significant contributions to the study of medicine. 2. In his fifth-century work History, Herodotus—known as the 'father of history'—described the wars that took place between Greece and Persia in great detail.
