General Studies · Passage and Conclusion
Read the passage carefully and evaluate the statement given below. Scientists have discovered more than 100 new exoplanets using NASA's Kepler Space Telescope as well as data from ground-based observatories. Exoplanets, which revolve around stars other than the Sun, have been actively researched in recent years. The Kepler Space Telescope has detected many exoplanets using the transit method, where a planet passes in front of its host star and dims its brightness. During its K2 mission extended phase, after experiencing mechanical difficulties in 2013, scientists examined 227 candidates. They confirmed that 104 of them are actually exoplanets, out of which seven have an ultra-short orbital period of less than 24 hours. The formation process of such small orbital period exoplanets is still unclear. Future studies will help in understanding the processes behind their formation. Statement: Scientists have discovered the process of the formation of the small orbital period exoplanets. Select the correct option based on the passage:
- 1The statement is definitely true.
- 2The statement is potentially true.
- 3The statement cannot be determined.
- 4The statement is definitely false.✓
