Read the passage carefully and evaluate the given statement based on it. Passage: At a ceremony, the miners of the Prosper-Haniel mine in Germany provided a piece of black coal to their country's President Frank-Walter Steinmeier during the announcement of the closure of the country's last hard coal mine. However, this does not mean that Germany will be completely coal-free: imports of cheap foreign coal will continue. Coal-free mining means only that there will be no coal drilling, blasting, extraction, and transportation, which is a major factor in environmental pollution. Through the export and historical use of coal, Europe emerged as a global economic power, but with its closure, the burden of pollution on European nations will decrease. Apart from this, the phase-out of coal in Germany specifically targets hard coal, while lignite (brown coal) mining continues for now, even though lignite is considered more polluting than hard coal but is cheaper to mine. Germany's decision to close its last hard coal mine is to meet its carbon emission goals. Phasing out coal mining can help limit global warming to the critical target of 1.5 °C. The use of coal worldwide will not disappear soon because parts of the world, such as India and China, still need cheap fuel to promote their economic growth. Statement: Lignite mines in Germany have not yet closed.
