General Studies · Passage and Statement

Read the following passage and evaluate the given statement: Scientists have discovered more than 100 new exoplanets using NASA's Kepler Space Telescope as well as data from ground-based observatories. These planets play a vital role in exploring the possibilities of life in space and advancing exoplanetary research. Exoplanets, which revolve around stars other than the Sun, have been actively researched in recent years. One of the main reasons is the success of the Kepler Space Telescope, launched specifically for the exploration of exoplanets. If a planet passes in front of its parent star, the brightness of the star dims. The Kepler Space Telescope has detected many exoplanets using this transit method. However, there may be other reasons for the dimming of stars. The Kepler Space Telescope, which was later directed for the K2 extended mission, encountered mechanical issues in 2013 (four years after its launch). Scientists examined 227 candidate objects using various space and ground-based telescopes. Following investigation, they confirmed that 104 of them are actually exoplanets, out of which seven have ultra-short orbital periods of less than 24 hours. The formation process of such short-period exoplanets remains unclear. Future studies of these planets will help advance research into the processes behind their formation. Statement: Exoplanets do not revolve around the Sun. Select the correct option regarding the statement based on the passage:
