Mathematics · Straight Lines
Let A(2, 0), B(0, 2), and C(-2, 0) be three points. If a, b, and c are the perpendicular distances from a variable point P to the lines AB, BC, and CA respectively, and a, b, and c are in arithmetic progression, then the locus of P is given by:
- 1√2|y| = |x - y + 2| - |x + y - 2|
- 22|x - y + 2| = |x + (√2 + 1)y + 2|
- 3|√2y| = 2|x - y + 2| - |x + y - 2|✓
- 42|x - y + 2| = |x + y - 2√2| + |x - y - 2√2|
Correct answer
|√2y| = 2|x - y + 2| - |x + y - 2|
