Biology · Gene Regulation
Expression of gene 'A' is regulated by Mg 2+ . The expression of gene 'A' in untreated (UN) and cells treated with Mg 2+ (T) was analysed by Northern hybridization (N) and Western blotting (W). A similar exercise was done for a mutant (Mut) which was isolated with a 6 bp deletion in the 5'UTR of the transcript of gene 'A'. Four hypothetical profiles (A, B, C, and D) were proposed. If the regulation of gene 'A' expression is controlled ONLY at the level of translation, which of the profiles represents the correct experimental results?
- 1Profiles B and C
- 2Profiles A and D
- 3Profile D only✓
- 4Profile A only
Correct answer
Profile D only
