General Studies · Coding-Decoding
Each letter is coded according to the rules and conditions given below. Vowels are coded as follows: A = @, E = #, I = %, O = $, U = &. For consonants, the code is the sum of the digits representing their numerical position in the English alphabetical series (e.g., T = 20 → 2 + 0 = 2). Situation 1: If the number of even digits in the code is greater than the number of odd digits, each odd number in the code will be translated into its corresponding letter whose numerical position in the alphabetical sequence is the same as that number. Situation 2: If all the numbers in the code are odd digits, the codes at the first and last positions will be switched, and each number will be translated into its corresponding alphabetical letter. Situation 3: If the code contains more than two symbols, the consonants should be changed to the immediately following letter in the English alphabet. Note: If more than one condition applies, only Situation 3 will be put into effect. What is the code for the word 'TRAFFIC'?
