Mathematics · Speed, Time and Distance
Analyze the three quantities given below: Quantity I: Boat A travels a downstream distance of 288 km in 6 hours, while boat B travels an upstream distance of 352 km in 16 hours. If the ratio of the speed of boat A to boat B in still water is 4:3, find the speed of boat A in still water. Quantity II: A boat covers 100 km more distance in 5.5 hours downstream than it covers in 3.5 hours upstream. If the speed of the stream is 4 km/h, find the speed of the boat in still water. Quantity III: The speeds of boats D and E in still water are (t + 2) km/h and (t + 4) km/h respectively. A man travels in boat D from point P to Q in 5 hours downstream, and then travels in boat E from point Q to R in 4 hours downstream. The total distance covered is 170 km, and the speed of the stream is 6 km/h. Find the value of 3t + 4. Compare the quantities and choose the correct relation.
- 1Quantity III = Quantity I < Quantity II
- 2Quantity I > Quantity III > Quantity II✓
- 3Quantity I < Quantity II < Quantity III
- 4Quantity I > Quantity II = Quantity III
Correct answer
Quantity I > Quantity III > Quantity II
