Physics · Oscillations
A system consists of two identical blocks, each of mass m, connected by a spring of spring constant k. If the system executes small oscillations, the natural angular frequencies of the normal modes are given by:
- 1ω = √(k/m)[(3 - √5)/2]1/2 and √(k/m)[(3 + √5)/2]1/2✓
- 2ω = √(k/m)[(5 - √3)/2]1/2 and √(k/m)[(5 + √3)/2]1/2
- 3ω = √(k/m) and √(k/m)[(5 + √3)/2]1/2
- 4ω = √(k/m) and √(k/m)[(3 + √5)/2]1/2
Correct answer
ω = √(k/m)[(3 - √5)/2]1/2 and √(k/m)[(3 + √5)/2]1/2
