A simple U-tube manometer containing mercury (specific gravity = 13.6) is connected to a pipe in which a fluid of specific gravity 0.5 is flowing under a vacuum pressure. The other end of the manometer is open to the atmosphere. If the fluid level in the vacuum limb is 20 cm above the center of the pipe and the mercury level difference is 40 cm (lower in the open limb), calculate the vacuum pressure in the pipe. (Take acceleration due to gravity, g = 10 m/s2)
