A hydrogen-like atom (atomic number Z) is in a higher excited state with quantum number n. The atom can make a transition to the first excited state by emitting two photons with energies 102 eV and 170 eV, respectively. Alternatively, it can transition to the second excited state by emitting photons of energies 425 eV and 595 eV, respectively. If the ionization energy of the hydrogen atom is 13.6 eV and the ratio of n to Z is α : 2, determine the value of α.
