Physics · Electromagnetic Induction
A copper coil connected to a galvanometer is mounted in a vertical plane. A strong magnet is moved towards or away from the coil according to the following schedule: (1) From 0 to 10s: moves towards the coil with constant speed v, inducing current i1. (2) From 10s to 20s: remains stationary, inducing current i2. (3) From 20s to 30s: moves away from the coil with the same speed v, inducing current i3. Select the correct statement regarding the induced currents.
- 1i1 = i3 and they are in the same direction
- 2i1 = i2 and they are in the same direction
- 3i3 = i2 and they are in the same direction
- 4i1 = i3 (in magnitude) and they are in opposite directions✓
Correct answer
i1 = i3 (in magnitude) and they are in opposite directions
