73वें संविधान संशोधन अधिनियम के तहत, पंचायतों में महिलाओं के लिए सीटों का न्यूनतम आरक्षण 33% (या एक-तिहाई) निर्धारित किया गया है।
प्रावधान: अनुच्छेद 243-D के अनुसार, पंचायतों के सभी स्तरों (ग्राम, खंड और जिला) पर प्रत्यक्ष निर्वाचन द्वारा भरी जाने वाली कुल सीटों में से कम से कम एक-तिहाई सीटें महिलाओं के लिए आरक्षित होंगी।
