पंचायती राज संस्थाओं का कार्यकाल
निश्चित कार्यकाल: 73वें संविधान संशोधन अधिनियम, 1992 के अनुसार, पंचायती राज संस्थाओं (ग्राम पंचायत, पंचायत समिति और जिला पंचायत) का कार्यकाल उनकी पहली बैठक की तारीख से 5 वर्ष अनिवार्य रूप से निर्धारित किया गया है।
समय से पूर्व विघटन: यदि कोई पंचायत समय से पहले भंग हो जाती है, तो उसके शेष कार्यकाल के लिए या नए सिरे से चुनाव कराए जाते हैं, लेकिन सामान्य परिस्थितियों में निर्धारित कार्यकाल 5 वर्ष का ही होता है।
