44वां संविधान संशोधन (1978): जनता पार्टी की सरकार के दौरान 1978 में 44वें संविधान संशोधन के माध्यम से संपत्ति के अधिकार को मौलिक अधिकारों की सूची से हटा दिया गया था।
वर्तमान स्थिति: इसे मूल संविधान के अनुच्छेद 31 और अनुच्छेद 19(1)(f) से हटाकर संविधान के भाग-XII में अनुच्छेद 300A के तहत एक कानूनी (विधिक) अधिकार के रूप में स्थापित किया गया है।
कारण: इस बदलाव का मुख्य उद्देश्य सरकार द्वारा विकास कार्यों (जैसे भूमि अधिग्रहण) में आने वाली कानूनी बाधाओं को दूर करना और सामाजिक-आर्थिक असमानता को कम करना था।
