42वें संविधान संशोधन अधिनियम, 1976 द्वारा भारतीय संविधान में मौलिक कर्तव्य (Fundamental Duties) का नया अध्याय जोड़ा गया था।
मुख्य बिंदु:
अध्याय का नाम: संविधान के भाग IV-क में मौलिक कर्तव्यों को स्थान दिया गया।
उद्देश्य: देश के नागरिकों में देशभक्ति की भावना को बढ़ावा देना और संविधान, राष्ट्रीय ध्वज तथा राष्ट्रीय गान के प्रति सम्मान सुनिश्चित करना इसका मुख्य उद्देश्य था।
स्रोत: इस अवधारणा को तत्कालीन सोवियत संघ के संविधान से प्रेरित होकर भारतीय संविधान में जगह दी गई थी।
