मुख्य बिंदु:
स्वर्ण सिंह समिति की सिफारिशों के आधार पर 42वें संविधान संशोधन अधिनियम, 1976 द्वारा भारतीय संविधान में भाग-IVक और अनुच्छेद 51क को जोड़ा गया।
इसके तहत नागरिकों के लिए पहली बार दस मौलिक कर्तव्यों (Fundamental Duties) को संविधान में शामिल किया गया था।
(नोट: बाद में 86वें संविधान संशोधन, 2002 के द्वारा 11वां मौलिक कर्तव्य जोड़ा गया था)।
