A conducting rod of length L rotates with constant angular velocity ω about a fixed axis (pivot) that is located at a distance x from the nearer end of the rod. The rod lies entirely on one side of the axis. A uniform magnetic field B makes an angle θ with the plane of rotation. Find the induced emf between the two ends of the rod.
- 1ε = B ω L2
- 2ε = 12 B ω L2 sinθ
- 3ε = B ω (x + L)L cosθ
- 4ε = 12 B ω [(x + L)2 - x2] sinθ✓
Correct answer
ε = 12 B ω [(x + L)2 - x2] sinθ
